Audrey Macklin receives Carolyn Tuohy Impact on Public Policy Award

For her profound impact on Canadian and global policy relating to migration, citizenship and human rights, Professor Audrey Macklin has received the Carolyn Tuohy Impact on Public Policy Award. 

The honour is part of in collaboration with the university. The prestigious program dates back to 1921 and recognizes outstanding faculty, staff and students.

A professor in the Faculty of Law, Macklin also holds the Chair in Human Rights Law, is director of UU直播鈥檚 Centre for Criminology and Sociolegal Studies and serves as the faculty adviser to UU直播 Law鈥檚 International Human Rights Program.

She has authored or contributed to critical policy reports on multiple citizenship, asylum and resettlement, the Canada-U.S. Safe Third Country Agreement, legal aid for immigrants and refugees, national security and non-citizens, and business and human rights.

In addition to serving as pro bono counsel, Macklin regularly provides academic guidance in formulating legal positions and drafting facta that form the basis of litigation. In awarding the honour to Macklin, the alumni association noted that her decades-long engagement with evidence-based, human rights compliant policy, public advocacy and education, and strategic litigation exemplify the impact of her contribution beyond academia.
